by Chuck 45 AUGUST 20, 2000. Ten years after the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, and 9 after the Gulf War, the U.S. and Allies are still dropping bombs in Iraq. In the fourth raid in a week, U.S. and British jets on Thursday attacked air-defense targets in a northern Iraq ''no-fly'' zone. Iraq claims since December 1998, 300 civilians have been killed and 900 wounded in these attacks. Standards of living have been made precarious by the 10-year-old economic blockade. The UN Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights urges states to swallow their pride and reconsider economic sanctions if they fail to bring desired changes. Sounds reasonable.
