George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush head to Crawford, Texas, Dec. 26, 2002. Rick Bowmer

White Christmas

by DuWayne Charles

DEC. 27, 2002. While much of the nation dug itself out after a snowy Christmas, George W. Bush basked in kudos for ejecting the inconvenient Trent Lott from his inner circle, proving once again that it's acceptable to be racist as long as you don't seem it.

Screw Mexico's President Fox for attempting to resolve immigration issues. Forget the Miranda law warning people of their legal rights. Pish tosh to the thousands of Asian men summarily arrested last week when they attempted to comply with the new registration requirements of the Patriot Act. Anti-affirmative action is the new norm.

Bush ain't racist — he ate (widely publicized) tamales and enchiladas for Christmas.
