Photos | NYC Dyke March 2002

Lesbians celebrated a decade of dykes at the 10th annual Dyke March in New York City on June 21. Begun by the street activist group, the Lesbian Avengers, to promote lesbian visibility and civil rights, the spirited march down Fifth Avenue regularly draws thousands of dykes, and almost as many spectators. This year, a diverse spectrum of 8000 dykes, including a group of raucous Brazilian drummers, paraded behind the banner "Doin' it 'til we're satisfied."
